Hytera Participates in UNICEF

Charity Run in Hong Kong

Shenzhen, December 8th, 2014 - UNICEF Charity Run 2014, the second largest professional running race in Hong Kong, was held at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort on November 23rd by the Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF HK). Hytera provided the running race with 80 units of the latest digital two-way radio PD368 as supporting organization in facilitating the race operation, and sent an 8-runner team participating in the race to support the annual fundraising event with tangible actions.
With the slogan of “Believe in Zero AIDS, Make Zero Your Finish Line”, the 9th UNICEF Charity Run brought together 15,000 runners including children, youth, families, professional and amateur runners. The fund raised hit a record high of over HK$11 million and will be used to purchase ‘HIV/AIDS rapid diagnostic test kit’ for over 1 million mothers-to-be, so as to identify those living with HIV at earlier stage and prevent the transmission of the virus to their babies. Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Honorable Mr. John Tsang Chun-Wah attended to cheer up the runners.
 
In addition to providing equipments, Hytera also initiated a team of employees and local partners to participate in the race to support UNICEF, mothers and children getting closer to win the battle against HIV/AIDS. M. K. Wong, Deputy General Manager of Hytera international sales department as well as a member of the Hytera running team said, “As a corporate citizen, Hytera cherishes the opportunity to serve the community and group in need.” Before the running race, M. K. Wong accepted sponsor souvenir from UNICEF HK in the awarding ceremony on behalf of Hytera.
 
In the 2013 Philippines typhoon Yolanda, 2011 Japan tsunami, 2008 Sichuan earthquake and a series of natural disasters in recent years, Hytera offered rapid response providing reliable communication equipments and solutions in assisting the post-disaster rescue.

UNICEF Charity Run has been successfully held for 8 consecutive years at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, Lantau Island. The event is co-organized by Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF HK) and Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association. It is not only the flagship annual fundraising event for UNICEF HK, but also the second largest distance running event in Hong Kong.
